December 2011, Andrew Maynard Architects (AMA) has completed the HILL HOUSE in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.
The house levels were adapted from the artificial hill where it raised up and made it higher than its area although Melbourne is flat. Andrew Maynard Architects built a new structure above the rear existing house, by installing a cantilevered box as the passive lighting from the sun light, pursues sun in summer and exclude it in winter. Rather than part of suburban house, Hill House is covered by grass, help keeping the temperature normal inside beyond offering place to play for the kids.
